The sole is just a bit chunkier and the shaft just a bit taller than a pair of Doc or Blundstone Chelsea boots, exactly what I was looking for, but they are comfortable and light for all-day wear. I've received several compliments on them; they look great with jeans or dressed up with a midi-skirt or trousers. They were perfect from the first moment I put them on, no break-in period at all. Flexible but sturdy, they are holding up well with a lot of use, and the leather seems like it will age well. I am between a 7.5 and an 8 US, and these are a little roomy with no insole but don't feel too big.Robin W
