ANDREA ISAKSEN Andrea is a tech- and information student from Copenhagen. In a chat with Vagabond, she shares her interest in vintage shopping, personal style, and the importance of only buying what you really love.

So, your Vagabond shoes, tell us about them!

I’ve had the Lissie boots for a year now - I love that they keep their shape and get a nice patina over time. They’re timeless and can be worn both casually and dressy. I use them for everyday wear, dressing up and going out. To feel beautiful and confident - whether during formal occasions or going for a walk in the park, drinking coffee or grocery shopping.

How do you build a sustainable wardrobe?

When shopping, I often think about how I would style a potential new item. Then I ask myself whether I really need and love this piece? Does it fit me and my personal style, or have I been influenced by others? I also shop second-hand and save up for pieces I really want - trying to avoid fast-fashion shopping. Only buy what you really love – make sure to take your time and choose wisely! Also, support your local brands and small businesses. And do not forget to choose quality over quantity.

MAXIENT KLIMKE Fashion marketing student and model Maxient lives in Berlin. We chat with him about his favourite Vagabond shoes and personal reflections on creating a sustainable wardrobe.

Tell us about your footwear, which style do you own?

My first Vagabond shoes were the Jeff loafers - my favourites since I bought them one year ago. I love them because of the plateau; it has an edge but still look really classy. I wear them every day: to university or parties, with a preppy or street style look, during winter/summer, with long or short pants. The versatility is endless.

What does sustainable fashion signify to you?

For me, it surrounds the idea of conscious choices. Favouring timeless and versatile pieces, supporting sustainable brands, and exploring second-hand options are helpful steps when building a sustainable wardrobe. Also, developing basic repair skills and practising proper maintenance can extend the life of your pieces, reducing the need for frequent replacements and minimising your environmental footprint. Selling or donating items you no longer need gives them a chance for a second life with someone else.

SUNNY DAY – Singer and songwriter Sunny is based in London. She shares her personal thoughts on mindful consumption and the story of her first Vagabond boots that have been with her throughout the seasons.

Share the story of your Vagabond shoes! Which style do you wear?

I own the Grace boots - my first pair of leather boots, gifted to me by my father when I was 14 years old. They have been with me everywhere, from festivals to funerals. I’ve danced, sung, laughed, and cried in them. Whether dressed up or casually, I wear them anywhere. There are a few creases here and there, but they are full of character.

How can we strive towards more mindful consumption?

Thinking about how the pieces we purchase will serve us long-term can help us consume in a more sustainable and mindful way. To me, thoughtful consumption centres on quality over quantity - owning items that are adored and made to last a lifetime. Make sure to invest in what will invest in you. Apart from this, learning about long-lasting materials and how to care for them will also benefit the environment in return. Overall, sustainable fashion means choosing timeless, versatile pieces that can be part of many stories for years to come.
