Suede is either split leather or the back side of the leather, which has been sanded down to achieve a soft, velvety finish. The material has high breathability and comfort but is sensitive to water and dirt. Therefore, it is essential to care for your suede shoes regularly. Follow these three simple steps to prolong the lifespan of your suede shoes and ensure a great-looking finish over time.

How to clean and care for suede shoes

1. Clean your suede shoes
First off, remove surface dirt with a suede brush. Use a cleaning block for tough marks or stains. Apply shoe cleaner with a damp cloth. Gently wipe off excess product and allow to dry.

2. Care for the material
Apply an even layer of suede renovator in a neutral, black, or suitable colour to restore moisture and shine. Apply light pressure using the sponge applicator. Allow for it to dry, then gently brush the material in the direction of the natural grain using a suede brush, which helps restore its original texture.

3. Protect your suede shoes
Apply protector spray across the upper, allow to dry before use. Reapply on occasion for ultimate protection against water and dirt.

Prolong the shoe’s lifespan
Add insoles to protect the shoe lining against odour and prolong the lifespan. Insert shoe trees in cedarwood between wearing, which helps absorb moisture and maintain the shoe’s shape over time.
