Design by Christina Wessen

Fotographer: Christian Gustavsson

I recently received these very nice images from Christina Wessén, the former design student graduated from Beckmans College of Design, who we did a collaboration with this spring. Together we custom designed 6 pairs of shoes which were shown with an outfit to each of them for her graduation show in May. Below you find an interview with Christina, which tells you a little more about her collection and the shoes!

Name: Christina Wessén
Age: 26
Studied: Fashion and design at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm
Graduation show: May 22, 2012
Special interest: Shoes
Favourite blog: Advanced style (Cool, elder women with style)
Size in shoes: 41

How would you describe your personal style?
I always emanate from myself and I would never create anything I wouldn’t want to carry myself. The style is comfy yet well dressed.

Did you change your initial design during the time, or did you stick to the plan?
No, I’ve changed it a lot of times :)

How would you say the shoes look?
I’ve made 6 different models and they are all different in some ways. I wanted them to be united but still different. I found it really nice to use shiny material on the uppers. For the outsoles I liked to cover them in leather.

Describe the clothes in the collection!
They are rather simple pieces and quite spacious, they are foremost made in velvet and wool. I want to create a balance between the relaxed and the more well- dressed. It’s supposed to both feel and look comfy. But nevertheless the clothes can preferably be worn with the more well-dressed.

Design competition

by Sofia 13. August 2012 14:13

This spring an association for shoes based in Varberg (Skostaden), which Vagabond is a part of, proclaimed a design competition together with the Nordic School of Design in Borås. The students should design a shoe, inspired by Varberg, and the price was to make a prototype of the shoe here at the design department at Vagabond!

The winner is Anna Bäckman and this is her contribution! Very nice I think!
It would be interesting to hear her describe the design and from where she got influenced!

Design collaboration

by Sofia 21. May 2012 15:29

This spring we have done a collaboration with the talented student Christina Wessén from Beckmans college of design. She designed 6 pairs of shoes which she together with our design department turned into real. The shoes are all different in materials and approaches and are definitely going to stick out!

Tomorrow she will be showing her collection of both clothes and shoes on Beckman's graduation show. We wish her all the luck!
An interview with Christina and more pictures of the collection and the shoes will appear in the blog later.

Coastal Culture

by Sofia 11. May 2012 11:33

As you might know Vagabond is based on the west coast of Sweden, in the surfer’s paradise Varberg. Next weekend the event “Coastal Culture” is arranged (18-20 May), where people are invited to be a part of the growing "culture".

During these days everyone is welcome to enjoy and try costless activities like surfing, yoga, art, skating and more for three days. Several good bands are also going to play and one of them is sponsoerd by Vagabond! That band is Urban Cone and will do their performance on the Saturday evening.

URBAN CONE is a young band that got together in 2010 and consists of Rasmus Flyckt, Magnus Folkö, Tim Form Branch, Emil Gustafsson and Jacob William Sjoberg. They met in high school and quickly realized that they shared musical influences as well as ambitions. The sound of Urban Cone is a melting pot of influences and expressions collected from their personalities and individual musical backgrounds.

Come and join in!

A little late maybe, but still!
At the Swdish Grammis awards a couple of weeks ago some of the hostesses were wearing Vagabond Conga. Spectacularly styled by Elin Engström they walked the celebs to the stage. Have a look at their shoes here

We also noticed that Veronica Maggio was wearing a special made Vagabond. Also, congrats to her many awards!

The Grammis Awards are the Swedish equivalent of the Grammy Awards. The awards ceremony is generally held each year in February in Stockholm.
