Standards of Yesteryear

As a talented youngster already set to become a successful jazz trumpet player, loosing
three fingers in a work accident inadvertently jostled him down a very different life path -
fortunately enough, it came to be as one of America's all time greatest illustrators.

Bernie Fuchs (1932-2009) started out producing ads for the booming Detroit auto industry
in the early 1950's and later moved on to creating editorial artwork for some of the
biggest selling magazines of the era, including the weekly issued Sports Illustrated.

In compliment to this he was also frequently commissioned to paint portraits of numerous
presidential candidates and celebrities, one notable subject being the late John F. Kennedy
who supposedly was so pleased with the outcome he even used it for official matters.
