6th of Nov; Another day at design

by Robert 6. November 2009 11:16

Did you know that an average person walks 4.5 times around the world in a lifetime?

This is what it looks like today at the design department... A hard week of work with the AW10 collection is altered with a relaxed Friday mood where a quote of Winston Churchill guides the weekend: "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."

Today at the designdepartment...

Just another day in paradise:

"The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself."

"Creativity often consists of merely turning up what is already there. Did you know that right and left shoes where thought up only a little more than a century ago?"

Fast track London

by Robert 4. September 2009 15:02

Parts of our design team went to London earlier this week for inspiration... Now they're back at the office, sketching new models and prints for AW10/11! The weather was hot, so scanning peoples feet did not give more than worn in Havianas. The team stayed at The Hoxton, a value-for-money design hotel serving one of the best Latte ever, perfectly located close to Old street! Design dept also gives you these tips snapped up in London: Prints: Hey, there are graffiti and wallpaintings all over. Music: Data Rock, and their album Red, which is the second album from the Norwegian Dance-Punk-Funk duo. Artist: Jon Burgerman, a British artist who let the public interact in his art and who's art is recognized by hand-drawn characters. Check out his latest book Pens are my friends...

Green to be seen!

by Robert 20. August 2009 13:07

Scandinavia's best art and design Museum is named Louisiana and is located in Humleback, Denmark, 30 minutes north of Copenhagen and just 10 minutes from Helsingör... If you haven't been there- go there! Louisiana is a great source of inspiration and the location has a view to die for. With inspiration from MOMA (Museum of Modern art) in New York, Louisiana opened in 1958 with the intention to only show Danish art. A few years after the museum changed track and opened up for international art as well. Louisiana's main exhibition for the moment is called "Green architecture for the future" and is focusing on architecture that meet the needs for sustainable development. This is a great way to highlight the surrounding problems with an increasing urbanisation and hopefully the gap between theory and practice can be filled.
