Exhibition with a twist

by Sofia 16. April 2013 15:59

I got a tip on an exhibition in Gothenburg from one of our designers!

This exhibition, by student and teachers from HDK, is held at Remfabriken which is a factory preserved from the late 1800's. The factory was part of a fairly large textile industry in Gårda in Gothenburg around the 1930s. Now it’s a cool museum and the students and teachers have worked with the factory using machines, objects etc. as a base in their works. The exhibition will be open until Sunday so hurry while it’s running!

SHE: THE QUESTION

by Sofia 14. August 2012 13:46

Are you in a cultural mood today? Then it might be the perfect day to visit an exhibition! There is actually one interesting by Chitra Ganesh going on in Gothenburg!

Chitra Ganesh, of Indian origin, born and brought up in the USA, now exhibits her works in Scandinavia for the first time. This visually vibrant exhibition features a generous selection of works in drawing, video, photography, and collage. In addition, a range of works will be produced exclusively for Göteborgs Konsthall. Her works are centered on mythologies and epic narratives of Hindu, Greek, and Buddhist origin as well as more contemporary visual expressions from Bollywood, 1960s psychedelia, science fiction, feminist fanzines, and comic books. Ganesh narrates a space where myth encounters history.

Visit the exhibition until 30 September 2012

Urban Artroom

by Sofia 2. March 2012 13:48

Street art has got its own gallery in Gothenburg! At Friggagatan 21 Viktor Byhr has his gallery which he calls a “stop shop” for unique art that will give your home the right urban touch. Viktor hope that even those who don’t use to shop at art galleries will come and visit him.

One of my colleagues has been there and thinks it’s really worth a visit! (She has also taken the pictures above).

Feel like dropping by? Urban Artroom is open 6 days a week (closed for dog walking 15-16 though), admittance is free and as Viktor says: animals, children and art byers are all equally welcome.

Destination X

by Sofia 5. May 2011 11:46

As Vagabonds we find this exhibition about people's motivation to travel around in the world rather interesting. "Destination X" offers a grand mix of objects, contemporary art, film, photo and personal stories about the dream of another life - elsewhere. It's about tourists and migrants, global families, business travellers, refugees and adventurers. Do you think it sounds interesting too? The exhibition at the Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg will continue until December 2011.
